Photo 17. Dolostone pavement developed along the base of
a dry valley where bedrock has been exposed for a long period of time. The
pavement is dissected by numerous grikes, or solutionallywidened vertical
joints. The dolostone blocks or slabs isolated by the grikes are called
clints.
